His performance earned him 75 caps of the Soviet Union, the gold medal in 1956 Olympic, 1960 European Championship & bronze medal for finishing third in the 1966 World Cup. They won the 1963 European Footy player of the year award & remains the only goalkeeper to win the title. They seldom played in a club other than Dynamo Moscow, where they won championships & caps titles. In 1962 a bronze statue of Lev Yashin was erected at the Dynamo Stadium in downtown of Moscow in recognition of his services to the club.

In 1994, FIFA established the Lev Yashin Award for the best goalkeeper in the World Cup. World Soccer Journal has named him to top 100 greatest players of the 20th century. Lots of commentators still think about him as the best goalkeeper in the history of game. They died in 1990 of complications from an amputation of her leg following a knee injury in 1986.
